The beautiful Loch Earn is quite a large loch,
approximately 7 miles long, and runs from Lochearnhead in the west to St Fillans in the East. There is both Salmon and trout fishing from loch side or by boat. The main road runs along the North side and there is a B road which runs along the more popular side for fishing which is the south side. There are often tents on the beaches here. It is unfortunate that there is often a lot of refuse left by fishermen and women along this loch side.
Loch Earn
has a reputation of producing very large brown trout, often thought
to be the place to catch the biggest in Scotland. This is due to the
restocking policies which have been followed for many years. The
biggest to date was caught in 2006 and weighed in at a staggering
26lbs and 10oz.
