Fishing on Loch
Katrine is particularly picturesque. This loch is in the heart of
the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. It is the main
reservoir for the city of Glasgow and as such the water is always
clean with absolutely no pollution.
Boat hire is
available from the west end of the loch , to get there drive through
Aberfoyle and Kinlochard and at the T junction a number of miles
after Kinlochard turn right to get to Stronachlacher
pier. Loch Katrine is 8 miles long and about 1 mile wide and fishing
is from boat only.
Permits obtained from :-
Loch Katrine
fisheries (Stronachlacher)
01877 386374 or 07930 309206
Bank fishing or bait fishing is not
permitted by Scottish Water and therefore we provide boats with an electric
outboard. Booking in advance is advisable although not necessary. The cost per
boat with 2 anglers is £40.00 Monday to Friday and £45.00 on Saturday or Sunday.
Although Brig
O'Turk is very near Loch Katrine, the fishing is at the opposite end
off the loch and there is not a public road along the loch side. It
is suggested that if you are looking for accommodation it would be
better to obtain it from either Kinlochard or Aberfoyle, thereby
limiting your travel time in the morning when you want to just fish
on Loch Katrine
